For Oni fans [01 Mar 2007|07:10pm]

For those interested in the game Oni, I made a website http://edt.oni2.net/ that's all Oni and the Mac.

There is still a community that loves to mod, script, improve Oni. All of the efforts are made on the PC side, what I have done is to move some of their work to the Mac.

Here is an example:

Oni Konoko Jetpack
"Oni Konoko Jetpack" on Google Video
Modified Oni that allows you to fly!

looking for a "style" [12 Dec 2006|06:25pm]

[ mood | hopeful ]

Newbie here. I recently got a nifty Intel iMac, and I've been playing with it a lot recently. I've found some awesome action games (my current favorite is "vdrift") and some decent puzzles. What I haven't found are really good roleplaying/adventure games.

What I've got in mind is something in the style of Sierra On-line's old DOS games: story as the main focus, some puzzles, not heavy on the battles but not fluffy, not sims/conquest games/dungeon crawlers... hopefully you get the idea.

If you can recommend any, I'll be grateful. Not fussy about license. I just want to adventure. (Actually other recs would be good -- I'm new enough to the whole Mac software-finding process that I'm probably missing resources and could benefit from help.)

Alright, so. Does anyone know if there is any way to make either Magic the Gathering Online or Guild Wars Mac compatible?
(I'm using OS X vrsn. 10.3.9, with a 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 processor. Yeah, I know. It needs to be updated.)

This was cross-posted to various places, by the by.

OMG Cup 2005 [07 Dec 2005|01:28am]

iDevGames is hosting the Original Mac Games Cup right now. The short of it is that there are 36 games that people have put together recently, ready and waiting to be downloaded, tried out, and voted on. There's some pretty nifty ones in there, too. Voting ends Dec 15.

I have a quick question. I have had the Sims 2 but my brother killed rendered the DVD unusable. Is there any way for me to play the game without it?

Thank you!

I have a quick question (or two, depending on how you look at it.)

I'm looking for two games that I had for OS 9. One is SimTower and the other is Petri. Does anyone know where I can find them now?

Searching for a game... [02 Jul 2005|05:33pm]

My sis used to have a Mac a LONG time ago and I remember downloading some really cool games online. There's one in particular I'd like to find again, but I have no idea what it was called. I thought it was Marvin something, but I haven't found anything yet. Basically, you're this red ball with a face and you go through each level eating as many floating foods as you can. The music was really catchy and bouncy. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Nevermind! I did more searching and it hit me that it was Melvin, not Marvin, which helped me find it faster. It's called Munchies.

MacAttack anyone? [28 Jun 2005|12:21pm]

[ mood | frustrated ]

Okay, this is a shot in the dark. I've been trying to find out how to register this OLD shareware game by Newreality Entertainment. All links at kagi.com are no longer in existence. I downloaded MacAttack 1.9.9 and would really like to be able to play all the levels. I've googled everything I can think of with no luck. Suggestions anyone?

Planeshift [18 Jun 2005|08:12pm]

For those curious to try out a free (aka no money involved, period) 3D MMORPG that runs on Mac OS X, check out PlaneShift. It is in beta, and updates for the mac client do tend to lag behind those of the windows client, but the current version is quite functional.

In order to get a working client, first download the Mac OS X version from here, then follow the instructions given here. The discussion boards are well used there - they even have a MacOSX-specific category.

Cave Story (Doukutsu Monogatari) [24 Feb 2005|07:00pm]

[ mood | enthralled ]

Though it takes more effort to install than a typical game, it's well worth it, as I love it, and everyone else I know who's played it also loves it. The only reason I'd not consider it necessarily better than _Metroid_ is because Metroid came first. (Doukutsu plays a bit like it, while still being very original. It also has a very good story that plays out as you proceed through the game.)

I'd tell you more about it, but it would be really hard to do so without giving away important plot elements. Take my word for it, though, this game is _fun_!

Here's the page of OS X software by Pixel:
The DL is the link under the top screencap, labled: ダウンロード(1.6MB)

Now, since the translation program is a Windows EXE, I've uploaded the translated data folder in a zip file for all here to download as needed:

(Credit goes to http://agtp.romhack.net/ for the translation.)

Unzip data.zip, then, after installing Cave Story (Doukutsu), control/right click "Doukutsu.app" (or Doukutsu if you don't have it set to show the extension) and select "Show Package Contents". Copy the folder 'data' that you got from unzipping data.zip into Doukutsu.app/Contents/Resources. When it asks you if you want to replace the existing data folder, do so. You should be able to play it fine after that, and it's well worth the effort!

tab = toggle fullscreen/windowed mode
Arrow keys = movement
down arrow = use/pick up object, door, etc.
z = jump/confirm
x = fire
a = previous weapon
s = next weapon
q = item screen
w = map (once map system is acquired)
escape = pause (F1 to resume, F2 to reset, escape again to quit.)

Also, as it was originally a Windows game, if you've got friends who use Windows, they can get it here:

Lugaru [28 Jan 2005|10:02pm]

[ mood | impressed ]

I've been monitoring the development of this game (link to main site) for a while (though I missed out on testing it) and thought, from the movies, that it would be a really neat combat system if they could actually pull it off.

They actually pulled it off.

Fast-paced, a visual delight, and intuitive, the game's engine is definitely a step in the right direction. The game's plotline is a bit lacking, but hey, who plays this kind of game for the plotline? :D

Seriously, though, if you're at all a fan of action games along the lines of... uh... er... I suppose the only thing vaguely close would be Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time... I recommend downloading the demo and giving it a go!

Sim City 3000? [14 Nov 2004|10:42pm]

Ok, I don't know if this is breaking any rules of this community or what not, but I have a simple request.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of Sim City 3000 to play? Now, before anyone gets mad about stealing games, I do have a copy right here. I borrowed it from my brother tonight because I've been really wanting to play for a while now. However, my brother has scratched it so bad, it won't compeltely install so I'm stuck with a dead CD and I still want to play.

Suggestions of anywhere I can get it/anyone who has a copy they are willing to send to me?

Thanks so much. And if I am breaking a rule here, feel free to delete this post.

I am new; need a bit of help with Myst 3 [16 Sep 2004|05:01pm]

[ mood | me ]

Hey there. I am new to this community and just happened to find it while looking for an updater thing for Myst III: Exile. (I don't know how that happened, but I'm here now!)

So, does anyone know how I can get Myst II: Exile to work on OS X.. I have 10.3.5. It crashes as soon as I open it and say "Error: Unable to locate JPEG # 100" or something.
I tried downloading two updaters but when I tried opening one it said cannot find the file "myst iii exile" and the other was a v1.222 or something and the same thing with the crashing happened.

Umm HI! Since I am new I will say that I am also new to Macintosh games, but not to Macs. I just got a new 512MB RAM card and that's why I'm all into the Mac games now.

Bye for now

Sims [01 Aug 2004|06:08pm]

[ mood | annoyed ]

Ok, so I have the Sims, livin large, hot date, unleashed and vacation.
One of my problems is that whenever I bring a character downtown the whole game starts to freeze up. It seriously takes about ten minutes for anything to start moving again.
Another problem is that I built this really cool vacation lot, but accidently deleted the telephone. I can't find another one in the menu to buy! I brought one of my characters there and the game froze!

Please help!!!

ps- does anyone know where I can get some good celebrity skins?

Question for the Mac users of "The Sims" [03 Apr 2004|11:21pm]

[ mood | anxious ]

I have Superstar and Unleashed now. Problem is, I can't play them unless I upgrade my OS system to 9.2.2 . I currently run 9.1. I've been given permission to use our old non-used Imac with 9.2.2, but I seem to be having problems installing Livin' Large on it.

Whenever I try to install anything after Livin' Large --or-- play it I get this error message:

The Path "Mac The Sims" contains a slash\ blacklash/ or period. Please remove the character from the appriate folder's name and try again"

Anyone have a friggin' clue of what 'n the hay I should do? I thought maybe I'm having this problem because I skipped installing "House Party" (due to the fact it was simply out of stock and I'd have to order it at full price from Aspyr.com ), but I think it might be something more.

If anyone here has experienced such a problem and has managed to overcome it --or-- knows what to do, please lend me a helping hand. I'm dying to get Unleashed working. I want to add some kitties to my household! :)

If no one here can help me I'll just have to bug Aspyr.com and HOPE they can help me. =_=;;
